5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible value for the average homeowner. But know what you are getting., October 30, 2011

This review is from: Black & Decker LC3K220 20-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
WHY I BOUGHT THIS SET: I picked up this set because I had a corded Black and Decker trimmer that was giving me problems, so I replaced it with the 20v cordless trimmer in this set. I liked it so much that I returned it and purchased this set to get the other tools for less cost. If you're buying any of these tools by themselves, you may want to consider paying a little more and getting this set instead.

THE SET ITSELF: These tools are priced at over $100 each, so for a little more than the cost of two tools, you're getting all three.

These aren't meant to be as powerful as gas-powered tools. "With great power comes great responsibility" gas-powered tools also need a ton of maintenance, are expensive, and aren't the best for the environment. These Black and Decker 20v tools are lean, mean enough and green. I say mean enough, because they don't quite cut it for big jobs. You really have to know that there are limits for these tools and if you want something to do a... Read more

This is a great product for short timed work. The batteries only last 20 to 30 minutes and take up to 8 hours to recharge. The units are light and easy to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not any better than the NiCad, August 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Black & Decker LC3K220 20-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Electric Lawncare Center (Lawn & Patio)
Worse version of the NiCad set I had. I have a large yard and needed to trim without running out of batteries. The blower is quieter, but the battery life is worse and they take longer to charge. I have Bosch lithium tools and they charge in about 30-40 minutes and last for weeks. These take hours or overnight. At the least 3 batteries just to trim and if I blow leaves or grass from the sidewalks and patio forget it. If I had not already sold the NiCad set I would send it back. Now I have to get rid of this and go through the nightmare of shopping again.

1.0 out of 5 stars No battery life, August 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: WORX WA3512.1 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Battery (Lawn & Patio)
Those that said the battery had no life were correct, five 15 minute uses and it was totally dead, will NOT recharge even though the green light on the charging station says it has. USELESS PRODUCT! $120 for a little more than an hours work. From the research I have done it appears you should NOT leave the battery in the charging station once the green light goes on, it will destroy the battery. Once it recharges put it back in the trimmer and leave it there until recharging again. This may no save your battery but at least it will last longer than an hour.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Update on Worx Trimmer, August 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: WORX WA3512.1 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Battery (Lawn & Patio)
Unbelievable in that I have three Worx GT WA3512 (18-v lithium ion) batteries, the orignal that came with the trimmer and two spares. Currently, only one is working, as the other two are defective - no longer taking a charge. Purchased unit in April 2010. I contacted Worx GT, given the 30-day return period had elapsed. While Worx GT is willing to replace the first battery, it has been over 30 days and I have not received the replacement battery. Worked my lawn this morning and the original battery is no longer accepting a charge - so I am down to one battery pending Worx replacing battery number two. Hopefully, I will limp through the summer with this equipment, but will replace with a Sears Craftsman of Black and Decker for next year. We have used a Black and Decker trimmer for almost 5 years - never, never had a problem of this kind in maintaining a charge. Despite it shortened battery life, the Black and Decker Unit runs circles around the Worx GT's battery life. Worx GT... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Battery recall by Worx, June 25, 2011

This review is from: WORX WA3512.1 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Tool Battery (Lawn & Patio)
I was about to post my own gripe when I called Worx customer service. There is an automated option for batteries that directs you to worxbattery.com.

Punch in the serial number of your battery and you will likely qualify for a free battery replacement on their dime.

I only give this a 5 stars because they are willing to rectify the problem at no charge. If I end up getting a bad battery and Worx does not do the right thing I'll change this to a 1 star.

Product Description

Includes 25cc Gas 16-in Curved Shaft String Trimmer with Tap N Go Head - XT260, Owner's Manual

Amazon.com Product Review

Electrolux's gasoline-powered, curved-shaft string trimmer features a 16-inch cutting path for taking out that weed patch quickly. Powered by a unit's 25 cc engine, this trimmer zips quickly through stubborn weeds, vines, and thistle. Electrolux's handy, Tap-'n'-Go line-advance lets out line smoothly when the head is quickly bumped on the ground--so you do the whole yard at once without having to kill the engine, re-string, and start up again every time the line gets sucked into that chain link fence. A rugged, plastic housing and lightweight aluminum shaft mean optimal handling and durability. And, a lightweight design ensures superb maneuverability for buzzing around landscape features, down long fence lines, and between flowers. More great features: Easy no-tool assembly gets you up and running quickly. The unit's quiet engine won't annoy the neighbors and is easy to start. A squeezable primer bulb facilitates startups on colder days. And, Electrolux's Quick-Snap spool replacement lets you change heads in less than ten seconds. Best of all, the purchase is covered by manufacturer 2-year warranty. Brian D. Olson

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy Starting Lightweight Weed Trimmer, March 22, 2006

Doppler "PJA" (Newnan, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Weed Eater XT260 16-Inch 25cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Tap-N-Go Dual Exit Head Curved-Shaft String Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
I was satisfied with this product after using it. No problem at all starting. It has good motor response and is easy to control with a well designed trigger for accelerating. The line feed worked OK, except motor needs to be going fast for line to cut itself. It seemed a little hesitant before warming up, but further usage will help to learn when to adjust the choke. Best part is its light weight, since extended use will not cause arm fatigue. Should be adequate to use for most housholds.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to start and stalls out once running., April 9, 2007
This review is from: Weed Eater XT260 16-Inch 25cc 2-Cycle Gas-Powered Tap-N-Go Dual Exit Head Curved-Shaft String Trimmer (Lawn & Patio)
First time I bought a curved shaft trimmer, my old one crapped out on me so I needed a new one and saw this one on sale for around 66 dollars so I bought it. When I got it it already came assembled so all I had to do was put in the 2 cycle gas. After that I tried to start the trimmer as instructed, it took around 2-3 minutes to get it started, and once it was started and I started using it, the trimmer kept stalling on me. It must of stalled around 9-10 times trying to trim the house and the fence. Even though it stalled that many times, it still did the job it was intended to do, don't know if I received a bad weed eater or not, but I wasn't going to order the same model or brand again, I would try a brand I was accustomed too. After I was finished, I packed the machine up and sent in back to Amazon, and I orderd a more expensive one, and I'm glad I did.

I had been looking to purchase a new weedeater, and so knew a good price when I saw it. Getting free shipping from Amazon on this made the choice easier. I wanted a light-weight, easy to operate weedeater and that is exactly what I got. The price was right and the free shipping made the purchase on-line less expensive than going to a big-box store. It arrived quickly as well. I have used the weedeater for approximately 15 hours or so of run time and it starts easly, is light weight and easy to handle, and has plenty of power for my needs. My wife even finds it easily manageble and not to heavy for her to use.
